Hannah Bilka and Abigail Levy spent multiple seasons as teammates at Boston College. Today they briefly reunited before puck drop for their first time as opponents in the PWHL.
Sunday’s game in Boston featured a reunion for two players when the PWHL’s Boston Fleet faced the New York Sirens.
During warm-ups, one member of each team skated to center ice to stretch together, something you don’t always see for two teams who are about to face one another.
While this wasn’t normal for opponents, it is the first time Hannah Bilka and Abigail Levy would consider one another opponents. The two had been teammates in the years prior and this game marked the first time they would be playing against each other instead of with one another.
Fleet forward Hannah Bilka and Siren’s Goalie Abigail Levy had played together on Boston College’s women’s hockey team for two seasons.
Levy transferred to Boston College for her Junior year in the 2020-21 season. She played there for her remaining two years and one year of graduate school. She left the team in the 2022-23 season.
Bilka played four years at Boston College, starting in the 2019-20 season. She played until the 2022-23 season before she joined Ohio State for her fifth year of eligibility.
This gave the pair a couple of seasons together on the ice. Following the 2022-23 season they parted ways. Bilka played her final year at Ohio State, while Levy was drafted to the New York Sirens following the 2022-23 season.
Ahead of the matchup the two reunited, exchanging words at center ice, and Levy patted Bilka on the shoulder before getting into their respective warmups.
This matchup is the first of this season between the two teams. The Sirens are off to a hot start and are second in the league with five-points. The Fleet have been struggling and are currently in last place with zero points.
Boston beat the New York Sirens 4-2. Bilka picked up her second assist of the season in the second period on a Sydney Bard goal.
