Dominique Petrie has impressed early as a rookie with the PWHL’s Minnesota Frost, scoring in both of her opening games.
Minnesota Frost rookie Dominique Petrie has made an impression in her first two games in the PWHL.
Petrie has scored one goal in each of the Frost’s games. First against New York and the second against Boston.
She is currently tied for second place for goals scored this season. Petrie is tied with Hillary Knight, Sarah Nurse and two others, putting her name up there with other league veterans and leaders.
As for her great start to the season, Petrie remained humble.
“Going into this league, I knew it was kind of going to be a battle every night,” she said. “I think my game kind of embraces the physicality aspect of it, and being able to use that in this league has been a real plus.”
Petrie isn’t succeeding all on her own. The Minnesota Frost are tied for second in the league with the Ottawa Charge, both teams have a record of 1-0-1-0.
“I’m also really fortunate to have great teammates around me and leaders that have played at the highest level. I’m able to learn from them at practice and videos, and ask questions,” she said.
The Minnesota Frost beat the Boston Fleet by one goal, with a final score of 2-1 Minnesota. The team plays again this Saturday against the Toronto Sceptres.
As for Petrie’s game, she said, “It’s really just them being able to feed off of what it is that they’re [her teammates] doing well, and learn from them.”
