Broadcast

I have explored broadcast journalism through several different platforms. I was a part of the Box Score, a student-run sports debate show. I also have filmed several packages for USC summer journalism and my Emerson journalism courses. My full reel is directly below but for more footage keep scrolling for other examples of broadcasts I have been a part of.

The Box Score

The Box Score is Emerson College’s student run sports debate show. Below are the episodes I was featured in.

Summer 2021: How Small Towns Dealt with COVID-19

A video made for USC Summer Programs in June of 2021. I worked with a partner and created this video highlighting local businesses and how COVID-19 impacted them. I made the graphics, pieced together the video, and set up the closed captioning.

Graduation Livestream

Graduation live-streaming began in 2020 due to the pandemic. The first year we did this I was in charge of panning and still shots on two different cameras. In 2021, I was the co-executive producer. This meant I directed peers, who were filming on four different cameras as I helped run the switcher. We fed into the main sound board, loaded in graphics, and picked camera angles using Switcher Studio. We were able to reach 4,000 people.

Spirit Center

Spirit Center is WordsWorth’s daily recap of Spirit Week events. In a format similar to ESPN’s “Sports Center” we show off scores and event highlights. Over my four years as a journalist, I have worked as an anchor, boom operator, teleprompter, script writer, and as the executive producer. As the executive producer I use Switcher Studio and make graphics for the broadcast. Each Spirit Center is different and unique in its own way!

Examples of Spirit Center in Front of the Camera

This was me anchoring Spirit Center in 2021, my senior year.

Spirit Center Behind the Camera

I was the executive producer of this livestream. I set everything up — boom, three iPads, tripods, and teleprompter. I also got the anchors ready and loaded the graphics into Switcher Studio and streamed it live on Facebook.
